Miss universe 2005: Natalie Glebova Natalie Glebova (born November 11, 1981), from Toronto in Canada), won the beauty contest Miss Universe 2005 in Bangkok, Thailand on May 31 (Bangkok time). He worked as a model and received his bachelor's degree in Information Technology Management and Marketing at Ryerson University. He was engaged to Paradorn Srichaphan and plan to marry at the end of 2007.
Glebova also won several regional gymnastics championships. According to an interview he was born in a small town near the Black Sea in Russia called Tuapse. "There I lived in a small time with my parents (I am an only child). My family moved to Toronto when I was 12 years old, and I fell in love with the city in a few minutes I arrived."
According to his own words, Glebova also admitted that he was often ridiculed by his friends when in school, due to a Russian accent he has. Therefore, he hoped the story of immigration will help other immigrants toward assimilation in the whole world.
"In the beginning is very difficult, because I went to the eighth grade (junior high school in Indonesia 2) at the time, and as you might imagine, young kids can be cruel sometimes ... I was the only kid in school who have an accent and have different family names, so it is very difficult in the first few years until I perfected my language and started to believe in yourself. "
