Miss Universe 2006 : Zuleyka Rivera Mendoza

Rivera was crowned Miss Universe 2006 after beating 85 contestants from around the world in Miss Universe 2006 held in Los Angeles (United States). As a disabled title of Miss Puerto Rico who represents District Salinas, he also appeared as the champion first runner-up Miss Teen Puerto Rico. By the age of 18 years who won the title of Miss Universe, Rivera is one of the youngest woman as physically the beauty queen title. He is the youngest of the Miss Universe from Puerto Rico earlier. The fourth name was Marisol Malaret, Deborah Carthy-DEU, Dayanara Torres, and Denise Quiñones.




Rivera who won the title of Miss Universe 2006 live television broadcast from the International Shrine Auditorium, Los Angeles (California) on July 23, 2006. He is the fifth woman from Puerto Rico who holds a degree referred to and the second woman from Puerto Rico who won titles held at the United States. As pserta youngest, he managed to frustrate the ambition Miss Japan Kurara Chibana (24 years), occupying the second position and Miss Switzerland Lauriane Gilliéron (21 years).

Two other top five finalists were Miss Paraguay Lourdes Arevalos (22 years) and Miss USA Tara Conner (20 years). Before him, Puerto Rico had the title of Miss Universe in 1970, 1985, 1993, and 2001. The title of Miss Universe to be submitted Rivera Miss Universe 2005 Natalie Glebova of Canada.

Before the title of Miss Universe, Zuleyka Rivera is a journalism student at the University of Puerto Rico. He is the brother of two sisters, each and Jerry Jose Alberto Rivera, Jr..
At Miss Universe 2007 (May 28, 2007), he handed his crown to Riyo Mori from Japan in Mexico City, Mexico in front of an audience estimated at 600 million viewers. Tenure only run for ten months, one of the shortest in the history of Miss Universe.

Activities

On August 25, 2006, he held a press conference at Hotel Nikko (Jakarta) and attend the evening panganugerahan Miss Indonesia 2006 in Ancol. Together with Governor Sutiyoso and Miss Indonesia 2006 Agni Pratistha AK, he tried to catch the busway on August 29, 2006. Busway route that passed through the Medan Merdeka Selatan, MH Thamrin, Bundaran Hotel Indonesia, and Medan Merdeka Barat.
